Danmarks Pædagogiske Universitetsskole

The Danish School of Education, University of Aarhus, employs about 200 academics in research in education. It is the biggest university for research in education in Europe and offers masters and Ph.D. programmes to about 4,000 students.

Fields of research cover a broad spectrum of educational issues. Areas of educational practice, pedagogical theories and educational policies in different institutions and from different perspectives are investigated.

One research interest is leadership in the education system focussing on leadership in basic schooling, leadership in youth education and universities. Some of the research projects concentrate on Scandinavia; others are of international interest, e.g. the participation in the International Successful School Principal Project (ISSPP) in collaboration with the USA, UK, Sweden, Norway, China, Australia and Canada. This study is the basis of the Master study programme for Leadership in Education.
