Institut Unterstrass, Zurich

The Institute Unterstrass is associated with the Pedagogical University of Zurich and is an independent institute for educating teaching staff.

Seminars and courses support the transfer of theory and knowledge into school reality. In teaching practice periods of several weeks, students first learn how to conduct classes, later, how to manage the whole school. Students assume responsibility for a school for a whole week, enabling the staff to go on further education programmes.

These measures give the students insight into planning, performing and scrutinizing tuition. In small groups, their experience is discussed with a supervisor. Similar methods are applied to the further education of teaching staff and school heads.
